Walk into a shop abroad with an allergy, a vegetarian diet, or a kosher or halal rule, and the ingredients are a wall of words you can't decode. Pork hides in a biscuit under a name that means nothing to you. Fish sauce turns up in a curry you'd never suspect. Rennet appears in a cheese that looks vegetarian.

Verify Veg exists because guessing shouldn't be the cost of going somewhere new, or of keeping the way you eat.

Our mission

We're building this so millions of people can follow their chosen path anywhere in the world, without giving up the food they trust or the places they want to go. That's a long road, and we're at the start of it. Every time someone can eat with confidence instead of anxiety, we're a little further along.

Who's behind it

Samir Narain is the founder of Verify Veg. He built the app after too many trips spent second-guessing labels and asking, "is this okay for me?" The blog and the dish directory come from the same place: trying to make a tricky decision a little easier.
